Junior Devon Allen scores career-high 31 points to lead Ohio Northern men's basketball team to 93-83 victory over Defiance

DEFIANCE — The Ohio Northern men's basketball team defeated Defiance Tuesday evening 93-83 at the Karl H. Weaner Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 3-1 overall, while Defiance falls to 1-2 overall.
Junior Devon Allen led ONU with a career-high 31 points, freshman Ryan Bruns added 20 points and sophomore Travis Feitshans added 12 points.
After Defiance took the early lead, Allen went to work hitting a three for Northern with 13:50 to play in the first half to tie the contest at 16-16.
However, the Yellow Jackets refused to surrender the lead as a jumper from Tyler Alexander would put Defiance on top 24-19 with 10:19 remaining in the half.
Northern would take the lead with 8:19 remaining in the first half as Bruns would put ONU on top 26-24.
The Polar Bears would steal some momentum as junior Conner Rockhold would hit a three from the corner to give ONU the 33-30 advantage with 6:04 remaining till halftime.
Northern would finish the first half 6-of-13 from three en route to the 46-41 advantage.
ONU started the second half on a 7-0 run to push its lead to 53-41 with 18:45 remaining.
Minutes later Defiance would string together a run of its own to pull back within 55-50.
Another huge three from Allen with 15:36 to play would extend the ONU lead to 61-50.
Defiance would continue to battle as junior Michael Parker would sink his sixth three of the contest to pull the Yellow Jackets within 67-59 with 12:13 remaining.
The Northern offense was to much as they would hang on for the 93-83 victory.
Defiance was led in the contest by Parker with a team-high 25 points.
Northern returns to action Saturday as they travel to Wisconsin and take on Whitewater at 5 pm.
