Saturday's Contest: Today's contest marks the 10th and final game of ONU's 2021 campaign. It is ONU's sixth home game of the season and is the 14th game for the Polar Bears in calendar year 2021. Last Meeting: QB Brody Hahn threw for a school-record 463 yards, but Heidelberg scored with :34 left to edge Ohio Northern 42-35 in a shootout for the OAC West Division title in the Bendekovic Bowl at HU. Hahn broke the previous school record of 452 yards set by Shane Franzer in a 1999 Playoff victory at Hanover (Ind.) He also tied the single-game record of 29 completions, going 29-of-41 on the day. The two teams combined for 1,044 yards, with Heidelberg holding a slight 525-519 advantage.
ONU Last Week: #21 BW kicked a 19-yard field goal with 1:29 left in the third quarter and held on for a 17-14 victory in Ada. QB Brody Hahn completed 14-of-28 passes for 159 yards and two TDs and RB All-American Brock Martin ran 11 times for 61 yards to lead the ONU offense. LB Peyton Wilson had a career-high 18 tackles to lead the ONU defense. BW out-gained ONU 335-251 in total offense. Northern tied the game at 14-14 on its first possession of the second half when Hahn hit WR Austin Eick on a 44-yard touchdown pass with 10:38 left in the third.
ONU Leaders: The Ohio Northern running game is led by All-American RB Brock Martin (131 att, 594 yards, 5 TDs) and QB Brody Hahn (87 att, 301 yards, 4 TDs). QB Brody Hahn is 182-of-317 passing for a school record 2,742 yards and 29 TDs. HU Last Week: QB Drew Sims connected with WR Brandon Reed for a 25-yard on HU's first play of its OT possession to defeat #21 John Carroll 27-21 in Tiffin. Each teams had 24 first downs and no turnovers -- and were separated by 24 total yards (434-410, JCU). Sims was 18-of-29 passing for 263 yards and two touchdowns.
HU Leaders: The Heidelberg running game is led by RB Montavious Yearby (112 att, 638 yards, 7 TDs) and RB Jace Grossman (61 att, 271 yards, 5 TDs). QB Drew Sims is 126-of-235 passing for 2,075 yards and 24 TDs. WR Brandon Reed (36 rec, 587 yards, 7 TDs) and WR Maceo Matthews (26 rec, 517 yards, 8 TD2) lead the receivers. Bendekovic Bowl: Today's game will be the 11th annual Bendekovic Bowl, which honors the late Ronnie and Jason Bendekovic, who served as assistants at ONU and Heidelberg, respectively. HU owns an 8-2 record in the series, including a 42-35 win in Tiffin a year ago.
