Anthony McFadden receives first career OAC Offensive Player of the Week honor
By Blake Moore
ADA - Junior quarterback Anthony McFadden (Chillicothe/Paint Valley) has been tabbed the OAC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
McFadden racked up a career-high 373 yards through the air and accounted for five Polar Bear touchdowns in last Saturday's 49-46 victory over OAC foe Capital in Columbus. The junior would complete 24-of-34 passing attempts and toss four touchdowns in the weekend shootout. His remaining touchdown would be scored on the ground as the third-year signal caller registered a one-yard rushing touchdown to give Northern a 49-39 lead late in the fourth quarter.
With the nomination, McFadden becomes the fourth different Polar Bear to register a football Player of the Week nomination and the first offensive player to win an honor this season. He also becomes the first Northern quarterback to win an Offensive Player of the Week award since the November 7 voting period in the 2016 season.
Ohio Northern will return to Dial-Roberson Stadium this Saturday, October 27 for a conference showdown with No. 1-ranked Mount Union, which will also serve as the annual Homecoming football game. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. in Ada.
