Bio

Sam Slavik enters his eighth season as an assistant baseball coach at Ohio Northern, primarily serving as the program's pitching coach.

Slavik helped coach closer T.J. Storer to All-American seasons in 2016 and 2017. Storer led the country with 14 saves in 2017, setting school records in single-season and career save totals at Ohio Northern.

In 2018, Slavik helped guide pitcher Josh Mohr to First-Team All-OAC honors and the league's second-lowest ERA and the ONU baseball program to its first OAC Tournament berth in 18 seasons.

During the 2013 summer season, Slavik was on the coaching staff for the Lima Locos in the Great Lakes Collegiate Baseball League. The Locos finished second in the league with a 25-19 record.

He spent the previous two seasons on the staff at the University of Cincinnati, being heavily involved with the pitching staff as a volunteer assistant coach. While at Cincinnati, he was in charge of on-campus recruiting, video analysis, and day-to-day operational needs for the collegiate baseball program.

In the summer of 2011, he was the head coach of the Coldwater Jr. ACME team. His team was the runner-up in the Jr. ACME District Tournament.

Slavik earned a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Cincinnati in December 2011.

Prior to his coaching career, Slavik was a four-year member of the University of Cincinnati baseball team as a relief pitcher. In his three active seasons, he tossed 74.1 innings and recorded 61 strikeouts while only allowing 24 walks. He had a 6-1 overall record with a 4.25 career ERA and was a three-time Big East All-Academic Team honoree. The Bearcats reached the Big East Conference Tournament all four years of his career, never finishing below .500.

He is a graduate of Coldwater High School, where he was a four-year member of the football, basketball, and baseball teams.

Sam lives in Celina with his wife, Allie, and their son, Zane.
