Baseball lands six Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference honorees

ADA — The Ohio Northern baseball team saw six members named to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference teams in 2017.
Senior Zach Foster (Wayne/Elmwood), junior Brandon Kasberg (Mentor), and sophomores Austin Frey (Peoria, Ariz./Sunrise Mountain), Caleb Thomas (Strongsville), Adam Wilson (Maineville/Archbishop Moeller) and Jackson Buda (Norton) all earned the honor for Northern.
Foster, an Accounting major, earns the honor for the third consecutive season.
The senior made 12 appearances on the mound for Northern this season and posted a 1.93 ERA.
Kasberg is a Pharmacy major and was named Academic All-OAC for the second consecutive season.
The junior started all 40 games for Northern in 2017 at the short stop position.
Kasberg was tied for second on the team with 44 hits, was tied for first on the team with 28 runs scored and had the second most at bats on the the team.
Frey, a Mechanical Engineering major, earned the honor for the first time in his career.
The sophomore was tied for third on the team with 31 K's this season and was also tied for third on the team with three victories on the mound for ONU.
Thomas, a Mechanical Engineering major, was named Academic All-OAC for the first time in his career.
The sophomore started in 37 games this season, primarily as the designated hitter.
Thomas was tied for first on the team with 28 runs scored and led the team with three home runs.
Wilson, an Accounting major was also named Academic All-OAC for the first time in his career.
The sophomore appeared in 13 games this season and recorded five hits and five runs scored.
Buda, a Sport Management major, earned his first Academic All-Conference honor.
The sophomore appeared in two games for Northern on the mound.
Buda only allowed four hits this season.
Northern posted its fourth consecutive winning season in 2017 under 6th-year head coach Gene Stechschulte.
