No. 24-ranked Baseball explodes for 22 runs in victory over St. Vincent (Pa.)

AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- The No. 24-ranked Ohio Northern baseball team exploded for nine runs in the top of the eighth inning as they defeated St. Vincent (Pa.) Friday afternoon at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Fla.
The Polar Bears improve to 3-3 on the year, while the Bearcats drop to 2-4.
Northern recorded a season-high 17 hits on the afternoon, while scoring a season-high 22 runs.
Eight different Polar Bears recorded a hit during the contest.
Sophomore Dan McMullen and Dan Barna paced the Polar Bears offensively.
McMullen led the way with a game high five hits on 5-of-7 hitting and added four RBI's and two runs.
Barna finished the afternoon 4-of-5 and added three runs and four RBI's.
After jumping out to a 13-1 advantage through seven innings, Ohio Northern exploded for nine runs in the eighth inning.
Freshman Luke Klinehoffer would start the high scoring inning off as he singled to left field and drove home Barna.
On the ensuing at bat McMullen would single to right field and plate senior Cody Meyer.
With the bases load yet again, freshman Austin Peterson reached on an error from the right fielder and added an RBI as he drove in sophomore T.J. Storer.
Sophomore Brandon Kasberg would get walked on the next at bat and get credited for an RBI as Klinehoffer scored.
On the following two at bats freshmen Caleb Thomas and Adam Wilson reached on fielders choices and drove home two more runs.
Klinehoffer would end the scoring barrage with an RBI single to right field.
Senior Ben Glischinski earned the victory for Northern on the mound after pitching five innings, striking out six batters and only giving up three hits.
Northern will wrap up its Spring Break trip with a double header against Roger Williams (R.I.) Saturday morning at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Fla.
