Bostater and Shenefield lead Baseball in 9-4 victory over St. John Fisher (N.Y.)

AUBURNDALE, FLA. -- Sophomores Jordan Bostater and Hayden Shenefield led the Ohio Northern baseball team as they defeated St. John Fisher (N.Y.) Monday afternoon at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Fla.
The Polar Bears improve to 2-1-0 on the year, while the Cardinals fall to 3-2-0.
The Northern offense pounded out 13 hits on the afternoon.
Bostater finished the afternoon 2-of-3 and added a run and a game-high four RBI's.
Shenefield also finished 2-of-3 and added two runs and an RBI for the Polar Bears.
Northern fell behind early after the Cardinals scored in the second and third innings to gain a 2-0 advantage.
ONU came alive in the top of the sixth as Shenefield singled to right field to plate senior Andy Lubonovic and close the gap to 2-1.
On the ensuing at bat, Bostater would single to right field and bring home senior Nick Eltzroth and Shenefield to give the Polar Bears their first lead of the afternoon.
In the same inning, sophomore Brandon Kasberg would single to right field and bring home Bostater to push the Polar Bear lead to 4-2.
Senior Clay Small would cap off the inning with a sacrifice fly to to centerfield and bring home freshman Austin Peterson and give Northern a 5-2 advantage.
Northern continued adding runs to the board as Bostater would hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield and plate Lubonovic in the seventh inning and push the Ohio Northern lead to 6-2.
St. John Fisher would fight back in the bottom of the seventh inning and climb within 6-4.
Northern would not allow the Cardinals to get any closer as they tacked on three more runs in the top of the ninth to seal the 9-4 victory.
Eltzroth would single to right field and bring in Lubonovic and Shenefield in the ninth and push the lead to 8-4.
Bostater would finish the day off as he singled to right field and brought freshman Luke Klinehoffer home to seal the 9-4 victory.
Senior Alex Crabtree earned the victory for Northern on the bump after pitching six innings and only giving up two hits on the afternoon.
Crabtree improves to 1-0 on the year.
The Polar Bears will return to action Tuesday as they take on Wartburg (Ia.) at 2:30 pm at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Fla.
