No. 23 Baseball tops No. 25 Thomas More (Ky.) 6-2 in non-conference battle

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.— The No. 23 ranked Ohio Northern baseball team earned a 6-2 victory at #25 Thomas More (Ky.) Wednesday afternoon at Thomas More Field.
The Polar Bears improve to 22-6 on the year, while the Saints fall to 19-7 on the year.
Northern was led by freshman Brandon Kasberg, who went 3-for-4 on the day with three runs scored.
The Polar Bears got on the scoreboard first in the top of the fourth after junior Nick Eltzroth doubled to drive in freshman Jordan Bostater.
The Saints would plate two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth to take the 2-1 lead.
Freshman Dan McMullen would single in the top of the 5th to drive in Kasberg to even the score at 2-2.
A triple by senior Dan Belliveau would bring McMullen in to give the Polar Bears the 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth.
Belliveau would score on a single by senior Derek Lenardos to push the Northern lead to 4-2.
The Polar Bears would go on to score two more runs in the top of the ninth to seal the 6-2 victory.
Junior Ben Eckert earned the win on the bump for the Polar Bears, improving his record to a perfect 3-0 on the season after pitching five shutout innings in relief.
Northern will return to action Saturday as they travel to Marietta for an Ohio Athletic Conference double header at 1 pm at Pioneer Park.
