ADA — Freshman Jordan Bostater leads No. 25-ranked Ohio Northern baseball team to a 8-4, 11-4 sweep of Muskingum Saturday afternoon at Wander Field.
The Polar Bears improve to 19-4 overall, 5-2 Ohio Athletic Conference, while Muskingum falls to 8-17, 2-6.
Bostater went 4-for-7 with seven RBIs and one run on the day.
In game 1 trailing two runs in the fourth, junior Nick Eltzroth hit a double to right center that plated two runs and pulled ONU within one, 3-4.
Bostater scored the tieing run with the next at-bat as he singled to center plating Eltzroth.
Northern would then gain the lead in the bottom of the eighth as Bostater hit a RBI double to right center giving ONU the 6-4 advantage.
Senior Brady Foley followed it up with a sacrafice bunt that plated another run for the Polar Bears and junior Clay Small closed out the eighth inning, with a RBI single to left scoring the games final run.
The Polar Bears continued its dominance in game 2, as the Polar Bears plated three runs in the bottom of the first, two in the third, three in the fourth, and three in the sixth.
In the bottom of the first, senior Dan Belliveau led the Polar Bears as he singled up the middle plating two runs.
Muskingum threatened in the second, as they were able to plate two runs before freshman pitcher John Kopicky was able to retire the side.
In the bottom of the third, Bostater recorded his fourth RBI of the day as he singled to the left side scoring Belliveau.
Defensive errors by the Muskies in the bottom of the fourth pushed the ONU lead to 8-2.
Muskingum added two more in the top of the fifth to pull within 4-8.
A home run from senior Jack LaMarca and a RBI single from Bostater, in the sixth, plated the games final run as the Polar Bears claimed the 11-4 victory.
Ohio Northern is next in action Sunday as they play host to Otterbein at Wander Field.
