UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS -- The No. 23-ranked Ohio Northern baseball team split an Ohio Athletic Conference double header at John Carroll on Saturday at Schweickert Field.
The Polar Bears (16-4 overall, 4-2 OAC) scored the game's final five runs to win the opener 7-3.
The Blue Streaks (16-4, 5-1) scored the final nine runs to win the nightcap 11-5.
Junior Nick Eltzroth improved to 6-0 on the season, allowing just one earned run in 7.0 innings of work in the opener.
He also went 4-for-5 at the plate with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored in the two games to lead Ohio Northern.
Freshman Hayden Shenefield went 5-for-8 with two doubles and two RBI and junior Nick Guitar went 5-for-9 with two runs scored on the day for ONU.
In Game 1, ONU rallied from a 3-2 deficit with a 4-run seventh inning. With two out, ONU banged out five singles and drew a walk to rally for a 6-3 lead.
In the second game, Ohio Northern scored four times in the top of the first on three consecutive doubles by freshman Jordan Bostater, Eltzroth and Guitar.
ONU extended its lead to 5-2 in the third on an RBI single by Eltzroth.
But the Blue Streaks scored twice in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings and got three more runs in the eighth to earn the split.
The Polar Bears are slated to return to action Monday with a home game with Bluffton at 2 pm at Wander Field.
