Belliveau leads Baseball in nonconference game at Oberlin

OBERLIN -- Sophomore Dan Belliveau went 2-for-4 with three RBI's to lead the Ohio Northern baseball team in a 7-6 extra inning loss at nonconference foe Oberlin on Tuesday afternoon at Dill Field.
The Polar Bears are now 17-18 on the season, while the Yeoman improve to 19-18.
The Polar Bears were leading 6-4 heading into the bottom of the ninth, but OC got a two out, two-run single to tie the game at 6-6 and scored a run in the tenth to pick up the win.
ONU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run double by Belliveau that scored freshman Grant Wilson and Reed Allen.
The Polar Bears struck for two more runs in the third inning.
Wilson led off the inning with a double and came around to score on a triple by sophomore Jack LaMarca.
Belliveau followed with an RBI groundout, pushing Northern's lead to 4-0.
The Yeomen trimmed the Polar Bears lead to 4-3, plating three runs in the sixth inning.
But ONU responded in the seventh with two runs to push its lead back to 6-3.
Allen led off the inning with a walk and moved to third on a single by LaMarca.
Allen would then score on a passed ball and LaMarca would score on a single from Belliveau.
Oberlin scored an unearned run in the seventh to make it 6-4, in favor of ONU.
Freshman Zach Maier pitched six innings, giving up three runs and striking out two and picked up a no decision.
Freshman Alex Crabtree took the loss and falls to 2-2.
Ohio Northern will return to action on Wednesday when it hosts Wittenberg in a nonconference matchup at 4 pm.
