ADA -- The Ohio Northern baseball team picked up a 5-4 extra inning victory in Game 1, but dropped the second game by a 7-1 decision on Senior Day on Sunday at Wander Field.
The Polar Bears now stand at 15-16 on the season and 6-8 in OAC play, while the Yellow Jackets are 21-8, 10-4.
In Game 1, Baldwin Wallace had the go ahead run at first with two outs in the seventh inning.
The Yellow Jackets Zach Ferster ripped a shot to first that deflected off of senior Kevin Obarski and into foul territory.
Obarski retrieved the ball and flipped to first base, but nobody was covering and the ball rolled towards the pitchers mound.
Freshman Nick Eltzroth picked up the ball and fired home to gun down the runner and keep the game tied at 4-4.
In the eighth inning, sophomore Dan Belliveau led off the inning with his third double of the afternoon.
Eltzroth then singled to right and Belliveau beat the throw to the plate to give ONU the walk-off 5-4 win.
Senior Austin Price scattered two earned runs over 5.2 innings pitched, while striking out three.
Belliveau paced ONU offensively, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs and the game winning hit.
The Yellow Jackets struck for two runs in the second to jump out to a 2-0 lead, on a two-RBI single with the bases loaded.
Baldwin Wallace tacked on another run in the fourth inning to make it 3-0.
Northern came right back in its half of the fourth, knotting the game up at 3-3.
Freshman Grant Wilson led off with a walk and came around to score on a triple by sophomore Jack LaMarca.
Belliveau followed with a double to drive in LaMarca and cut the Yellow Jacket lead to 3-2.
Belliveau would advance to third on a wild pitch and come in to score on a RBI groundout from senior Cory Martin to tie the game.
The Polar Bears would take the lead in the fifth inning, on an RBI groundout from Wilson that scored freshman Alex Crabtree.
Baldwin Wallace answered right back in the sixth on a RBI single that just got past freshman second baseman Cody Meyer, to tie the game back up at 4-4.
ONU answered in its half of the sixth, putting its first three runners on base with a double, walk and hit batter.
But a duo of Yellow Jacket pitchers induced a fielders choice and double play to get out of the jam.
In the second game, Baldwin Wallace plated two runs in the fourth inning to take a 2-0 lead.
The Yellow Jackets added another run in the fifth to expand their lead to 3-0.
Northern got on the board in the sixth on an RBI single up the middle from Belliveau that scored senior Tom Walton.
But the Yellow Jackets put the game away in the seventh, scoring four times to take a 7-1 lead.
Freshman Ben Glischinski gave up five runs in six innings and is now 1-1 on the season.
David Redovian (4-0) pitched a complete game for Baldwin Wallace, giving up one unearned run and striking out four.
Ohio Northern has a quick turnaround and will host Adrian (Mich.) at home on Monday at 4 pm.
