Baseball wraps up spring break trip with doubleheader sweep of Anna Maria (Mass.)

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- The Ohio Northern baseball team wrapped up its 2009 spring break trip with a double header sweep of Anna Maria (Mass.) on Saturday.
The Polar Bears (4-3) won the opener 12-0 Saturday morning, then took game two 5-4 Saturday afternoon. Tha Amcats wrap up their spring break trip with a 3-7 mark.
In the first game, Brian Hill (2-0) and Ryan Damman combined for a 3-hit shutout. Hill allowed only three hits and struck out four in 6.0 innings of work to get the victory.
Northern used a 5-run second inning to take a 7-0 lead and cruised to the win. Drew Robinson went 2 for 4 with a 2-run home run, his second dinger of the year, to lead the Ohio Northern offense.
In the second game, Matt Hamsphire singled home Brandon Aselage with the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to get the Polar Bears the sweep.
Hampshire was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI and Brett Katana blasted his first home run of the season to lead the ONU offense.
Jeff Pope (1-0) got the win in relief for ONU.
The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday and Sunday with four games at the Tri-State Classic in Franklin, Ind.
