Wes Mayberry is in his third year as the assistant director of sports information at Ohio Northern University.

Mayberry came to ONU after a stint as the sports editor of The Paducah (Ky.) Sun newspaper. In Paducah, he covered high school athletics spanning a multi-county region in western Kentucky and southern Illinois.

Prior to joining the athletic department at ONU, Mayberry spent his entire career in the newspaper industry. He started as a general assignment reporter for the Jackson County Sentinel in Scottsboro, Ala., before moving to Sevierville, Tenn., to serve as the sports editor at The Mountain Press.

Over five years in Tennessee, Mayberry covered all aspects of athletics at the six high schools in Sevier County, highlighting the stories of the teams, student-athletes and coaches in the area. He then worked for a brief time as a general assignment reporter for The Wakulla News in Crawfordville, Fla., before returning to sports coverage in Paducah.

A native of Grove City, Ohio, Mayberry has always had a passion for sports and writing. He enjoys working closely with athletic department officials, coaches and student-athletes and promoting Polar Bear athletics.

Mayberry is a 2013 graduate of Ohio University with a bachelor's degree in journalism and a minor in economics and a 2023 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a master's degree in sport administration.
